Summer Glory

Beak-ful of sandeels

On spectacular Skomer Island, puffins will be arriving on the cliffs with beaks full of sandeels, as all the seabirds’ chicks will have hatched.

Further north in mid Wales, the trees are full of yellow-tinged young blue and great tits, as well as the red-headed young great-spotted woodpeckers. A great time to look out for pied and spotted flycatchers and redstart. We’ll hear the deafening cacophony of young cormorants on Craig yr Aderyn. Young hares are out and about exploring their new territories and with the long evenings, badgers are out in the light…….

Coast and Islands Spectacular

This  holiday is a real treat! Visit Skomer and see the seabird chicks, go seawatching off Pembrokeshire, visit Ramsey Island, take a boat trip to see dolphins in Cardigan Bay and visit Springwatch’s Ynys Hir. Maybe even extend our visit to see how this year’s ospreys are doing at the Dyfi Osprey Project, and watch red kites at Nant yr Arian.  We’re going to be busy!!  Enquire for a bespoke break.

Summer Wildlife Carnival, 3-night break, Tues 23rd – Fri 26th July 2013

Summer swallow

Let’s see how all our young birds are doing, and whether there are any second broods about. Swallows, swifts and martins will be swarming in the skies and the woodlands will be full of young birds.  Young cormorants on Craig yr Aderyn will be well-grown by now, and very noisy!  It’s carnival time too – combine wildlife-watching with the festivities of a Welsh village carnival.
